...is as difficult to define as for all Jews to understand why the Diaspora took place comanded by God. Basically, this is what all agree on, is that the Jews lost their own Kingdom.
In The Old Testament, here from the King James Bible, in the Chronicles this part is shortly before the Jews lost independence to another Kingdom:
9. Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
Today, we understand the word evil as an eqivalent to bad. Also we understand that the Devil who is Angel Luzifer tempts humans, but in the Bible it was only the Snake in Paradise that tempted Eva and along Adam to break that one rule God gave them and Luzifer doubted in the Book Hijob's deep true love to God making God put Hijob's loyalty to a test by putting him thourgh greatest missery.
Therefore, I believe that God decided the Jews are now ready to do the Devils job, which is not tempting but taking care of the bad. The Devil is running Hell, the place for the bad, Gods prison system not from this earth. I do not doubt Gods judgement in choosing his own people and therefore I am sure the Jews would do no bad anymore after being Gods own people, but managed to further develop to now take on the next Pharao instead of going for a run.
This does not mean that a Jew must be The Punisher, but it goes aline with the interpretation of most Rabbiner that Jews have to be good citizens among their hosting people, live to their example and to be in a community to be a Jew.
As a matter of fact, most Jews leaving Jewish comunities until industrialisation started travelling and joint the other people that ended their way of live by the World Wars: The Travellers.
