Jesus had sandals made by all leather with some iron in it to give it more grip. Handmade. We have about a dozent shoes each, made from several materials in one shoe. Jesus could not have bought one of our shoes. Therefore, you cannot compare shoes from today to the past in terms of economic growth in any other way as we have more complicated ways of makeing shoes.
Chicke are still chicken, so are cows.
Therefore, how long did Jesus have to stand on a mountan hill and talk to buy a chicken and how long does a Rabbi in e.g. New York today have to speak to buy one chicken.
Compare the two to have an economic efficiency relative.
But not shoes.
