So, maybe Russia made up its mind, but this does help Russia to consider a main attack on NATO mainland, while less dead among the soldiers never was an argument.
With all given respect, you do not understand Helicopters. You either fly it like this or get a tank, and that is not even a Comanchy or Tigre like attack Helicopter. The Apache has way more firepower, stronger armour, but also the biggest possibly engines and is actually quite capable of fyling manouvers.
Helicopters are no tanks with better ground clearence. Helicopters are highly sophisticated, extremly 3D manouverable vehicles that need a lot of skills. They can fly way lower than airplanes, can hide behind tree lines, houses and small hills by hovering or quick landing, they can accelerate backwards, sideways and verticale in the same pace, but they no other military system needs as much skill to be used capable.
A Howitzer is the opposite. One loads the projectile, one loads the propellant, one adjust the barrel, one shouts ready to fire and fire, one pulls a string, repeat.
If NATO has in the current war scenario only a few months to train helicopter pilots onto realistic levels of system control, you will loose them as soon as hitting the battelfield and will be getting over run by the Russian force gaining more and more momentum, this way riscing millions of displaced persons, hundred thousands of dead civilians and pure chaos, if those parts with a badge that made it into especially the FRG past their Holocaust crimes, come for humans like me. I ain going nowhere in war, except over corps past them ordering me shit.
