The geography of Croatia is perfect to build most elite special forces. Croatia and all comperable Europen mid-size mountain ranges have a very long history or partisanery dating back to Roman times.

Therefore, already the mortar brigade needs a different training. If the flat Donbass has hardly a clear frontline and instead a fuzzy stretch inbetween empty, filled positions and trenches createing a front parameter, that area that equals the East Romanian terretory perfectly is a labyrinth.
This means a drone will spot in a small tiny valley an enemy group, but they might have on hill tops machine gun nests or snipers covering the group. Everyone approaching with a mortar battery needs to approach almost like a recon team hiding from potential spotters on higher positions, build up the mortars quickly, silently and unseen to empty a load out of several barrels and retreat onto a defined other hidden most likely lower position, while being protected by snipers and gunners in a forward position, to avoid also ready to fire artillery protection form distance.
In those areas local geographical knowledge can be only challanged by having elite recon ability to read quickly topographic maps of excellent quality and haveing great situational awareness.

The core, like an ammo bunker, field hospital, HQ or long range com post, is in a lower position being covered from straight sights. Their mortars are also located there aiming circular around. On higher positions with longer views snipers are in full cover using darkness to move out and in of position. All access routes from roads to easy terrain are guarded by hidden gunners and their must be an artillery battery in range that can shoot based on defined most likely parameters to have com down to "Com One. Fire support request on Pos 4. Repeat. Pos 4" and the artillery comander in 30 km distance can find on his map the exact location. Any others are explained relative from those defined positions "Pos 4 NorthEast 10 degrees 500 meters" or by using defined codes. "Pos 4 NE10 5"
The UCK would have taken these guys there out, and they are practically local farmers defending the chicken farms, just realy motivated...
How do you want to challange Russian troops in the Tatras, Synevyr National Park areas of Ukraine, Romainian Karpaten or, if WW3 goes hot, their Parachute Regiments in Rhön, Thüringer Forests, Black Forests, Vosgese and Bhoemia building forward bases to supply main battle groups entering NATO main flat turff, if this is your training level and all you need to do is give up WW3 plans, build statetegic and tactical plans to secure main economic zones like the London-Frankfurt Sprawl, main towns like Warsawa, Rome, Lissbon, Lyon, Munich, Hamburg (Raumdeckung Vs Manndeckung) and take out from abusive positions those that stolen from potential hardcore terrorist partisans like me?
