The Mirage is quite unique in NATO and not to be compared with any American F type or Tornado with only the Phantom as an exception.
All American F jets are super sonic fighter jets better described as fast attack fighter and bomber jets.
The Mirage is a pure Interceptor designed for French mainland soil. It has great low speed maneuverability and great acceleration usable for extreme low pass maneuvers in the French western boarder with its mid and alpine moutain topography to fit into French Military Cold War war doctrine.
