The role of an Air Force is in a military that has planes in also Army and Navy a connecting one.
Instead of being deeply embedded into Naval or Ground maneuvers, the Air Force has to establish general Air Space Control and Security in times of war and emergency.
The Air Force well should be able to fight draught fires and bring quickly medical and food aid into disaster zones world wide.
It also should maintain the air logistical backbone for all forces and the diplomatic choir based on a reliable schedule leaving extraordinary transports to the other forces.
In times of war it must be able to build Air Bases far away and secure them independently with their own infantry, attack over long distances providing air refules and also crew swaps in air.
Today, the Air Force is a nuclear bomb driopping suicide job in super sonic to its air fights and got stuck in Cold War post WW2 Anti Sowjet doctrines of fighting economic systems under the nuclear threat.
The Air Force has no own Air Carrier that might look very different to a Navy Air Carrier being closer to a portable oil rig artificial island structure and has no capability of turning islands into run ways, like the Chinese do in that part of the ocean named after them.
