From a Merchants perspective Central Banks importance drops by two ways, strong localisation or strong internationalisation.
That means, if I sell locally produced fertiliser to all local Farmers and Gardeners CB decisions don't matter much, compared to someone exporting into only a few other currency regions who's price depends directly on the exchange rate.
Internationalisation would mean that I have dozens of different bankaccounts world wide in almost as many currencies and can either just not exchange money or buy local products to import them having by the profit created a better exchange rate than by just a bank transaction.
For most companies localisation or internationalisation will be the company's poor or rich gap making a living, while inbetween death aka bankruptcy is certain as much as the midclass disappears.
That would mean a real bad future for VW, but a fine one for Renault which was until here expected to be the opposite. If I was Renault I'd challenge the 13k Toyota Pick-Up Truck by building a Factory in South Africa and a main repair and trade hub in Lagos Port too, to, if that turns out to be a good strategy, build a tiny Hatch Back and Scooter factory in Bangkok's Industrial Zone and a copy of both in Sao Paolo of which none has a size any close to the VW Main Factory at all.
The same could be done by every SME in all of Europe, if able to adjust to local's coltoures over dominating them being autarc enough to act without a Ministries help abroad.
So, who can imagine himself sweating in a 3rd world business hotel room, restaurant and finally office to invest a few hundred thousand spare Euros or Dollars that will make him pretty much only other money than his Dollars or Euros?
