First was the spoken word. That word got around and met other words of the same meaning and also of different meaning and of course words unknown.
Important things were written and each letter had its way to be pronounced. This way as soon as read everyone knew what that word meant, if he had spoken it before.
Because only matters of importance are supposed to be noted down and the meaning of words can, may and will change bigger and less in a world doomed to change for ever thinking about how to write what turned important.
Instead of wondering if a word is written following a rule from anyone or someone the time is better invested into wondering what the word is supposed to mean.
Expressions happen for impressions. We think then we act or de we think and than act??
