So, Karl May is the most read secret writer of the Germans and that's what he is. He is not the sharpest tool in the Shed of Writers, but to be honest never had that ambition. His Characters are naive and full of stereotypes and lack all depth of Shakespeare, but comparing him with the greatest of all Europeans is nothing but mean.
As a German, you either read Landserhefte about Nazi Bullshit or Prinz Eisenherz even worse, actually fucking hell way worse, or fall into the Goethe trap who is incredibly overestimated by the hurt German Intellectual Ego based on their own lies, or you take Karl May which means the Nazis and Intellectuals leave you alone as the Mariechen.
No bad choice at all...Anyone ever hiding a Jew, that's the book the bitch stared into.
