No Dude. The Glock is a fine gun, but not for extreme conditions. The U.S. Army 1911 is a great example of what a military pistol needs. That thing is the best hammer you can carry and still will fire no matter how badly you cleaned it, at least for some time in a most accurate manner.
The Glock has a design problem which is a moving barrel to chamber the round, while all military Pistols achieve match grade accuracy by a fixed barrel design. The more dirt there is below the barrel that moves down just a bit to chamber a bullet the less accurate the Pistol gets. That usually does not play any significant role unless of a tragic combination of unlikely events accures.
In opposite to what you L-Boy's keep saying, is U.S. military equipment chosen to serve the best of the military enabling them to achieve the very best they possibly can, given God's helping hand and not to be save for the greatest potential idiot.
Because God being there for everyone and the very definition of war being tragedy, the Pistol in use must be accordingly avoiding as many false positives as possible being in the wrong place to being with.
