If the Ukrainian military fails to beat Russia they might declare war against Russia, as if that would change anything for Russia's perspective any further out than also the Atlantic being a warzone now and having to expect NATO material also coming over EU boarders for them.
Then, they might increase Secret Service operations to harm Russia instead, but that would need some serious convincing by
-Suing them infront of the Supreme Court for giving unlawful orders staying put
-Taking down the most loud advocates of a main confrontation by blunt murder
which would pull forces off the War on Drugs and War on Terror by that ending funding for major drug rings and most terror organisations that do accept Westerners among them, which would be the worst, to move them to the boarders of Russia by most likely Afghanistan as the main hub.
Second time in the Russians will execute mass executions and be short on taking prisoners of war, seriously. The first one in Afghanistan was bloody and the second one won't fall any shorter of that considering the political climate way off a Summer of Love in the West.
Certain is, they will be stupid, because they allways were and never changed. So, what is the worst they could do?
