Sales drop because others produce the same product. Those have machines. Sales drop because these machines being the very core of the company in terms of real estate are obsolete on the market. No one closes down because of more demand.
Germany will be full of empty workshops, being only empty of workers.
Even international sales into third world countries might be difficult, because comparable to communication they will jump over a few technological steps beside having no interest in mass production machines.
Many areas in the 3rd world have no copper or fibre optic cables for TV or Telephone. They went straight to satellite dishes and cell phone infrastructure. For many in what is for over here the poorest areas buying Starlink is no second thought as soon as the Internet pushes deeper into 3rd world society by cheaper hardware creating need for data pipes.
The machines they buy for their Slum Economy needs to process mass production items into serial products that keep changing. They need to be efficient and easy to configure.
They have need for most modern Computer Controlled Machines, but not for Mass Production Lines or old machinery.
