Did anyone walk off insulting the other sides Mums or left the Cat dead behind? If not, I wonder who on both sides started the shooting.
The trick is to give out orders to shoot only back when fired upon and otherwise keep distance. With some luck everyone that would have murdered the Cat and trash talked bullshit about persons they do not know will get killed by someone returning fire... based on shooting on an identified target in clear sight.

PS: If that was a 3rd party (....) then bomb attacks will follow on civilian public places like markets and schools or bus stops. Instead of showing presence, all men in arms should look for cover with good oversight to be on the watch out on striding persons moving tactically in either uniform or without ignoring orders to cover and return fire, only.
