Trenchwarfare? So, the most dangerous and effective weapon in trench warfare is next to bombardment the handgrenade.
In the first pictures of the exercise a group of 7 soldiers marches into a trench after a breaching explosion was performed. They all are within range of one handgranade thrown by someone standing hidden in a spot the breaching explosion did not hit.
Handgranades define the amount of soldiers being in one clear spot.
There is no meat grinding pushing forward, there is fear fought be more reconnaissance and save forwarding directly depending on soldier and squat cabability based on their own judgement. A dead solder is off the fight for ever.
Guess who minds??
These 7 need two recon drone operators that can both fly low like a race drone and high for surveillance being able to reequip lost drones quickly. Entering a trench means with any superfluous equipment that hinders movement, like jumping oneself or pushing a comrade around a corner is deadly.
They need to be no more than maximum three in one team being able to predict each others movements in high stress situations. There is exhaustion, but no enough training.
All amphetamines and opioids limit the ability of situational awareness like hearing or smelling or identifying objects, movements and thereby threats.
Did any unit step into booby trapped trenches yet?
By having a clear entry and retreat path trenches can be turned into death traps using wired chain linked IEDs that explode past the first intruder taking down entire units of soldiers.
I don't think anyone exhausted Trench Warfare options on any side of the Ukrainian conflict until here, to be honest.
RAIDERS! FORWARD!
