Shiites and Sunnies derive from The Prophet and a relativ of him, but only in terms of the Aristocracy. A Kalif no matter which wing is in his position mainly the highest Judge pretty much like Salomon and David, but unlike the early Popes who have had to fight Roman Enslavement for many more generations.
They should reason about these men actions, not bloodlines. They should not matter as there Muhammed is the Prophet, period.
The point they try to make misses the point of religious education. Religion is not about Status, it is about Reasoning how to live a righteous and good Life.
We all know that religious people miserably fail regularly throughout history doing so. That ain helping there.
Personally, I am really sure that most fails started with "Who are you" before even having heard "What did you just say" ending in "What are they doing" by my kinda guys.
