I stand to my bet that both those that try to exchange humans with LLM AI and those that build simple pipes to large online models will fail.
They here give us a great inside in how desktop work is done in most cases.
They might not even have real use for local LLM calendars. There are some tools around that allow to use natural language to set calendar dates like: "I have my KPI meeting at next Monday, 9:00 o'clock in Meeting Room 12.", because they can't type using 10 fingers and prefer mouse clicks and keywords using the graphical user interface out of convenience.
Such tools do make more sense if the calendar is no reminder, but the notes of the calendar date hold information that can be parsed by the LLM such as for a set of needed documents having to be ready at that date. If those need preparation other dates are connected prior and possibly a point later with the manager such as the pay rise or a recommendation being due to be received by email that if not happening require a reminder or follow up email. Connecting those automatically need LLMs, but really wants that understanding the overall benefit over a fancy, colorful set of blocks with keywords.
Such deep integration work into workflows is needy of bespoke solutions if not at some point integrated into existing large office bundles like Google or Microsoft offer. Both have e-mail clients, calendars and work with Cloud AI solutions in sever farms. Those can hold smaller models for corporate business that do not mind or like Cloud Services.
The amount of companies that truly and deeply understands the capability of information technology is limited and large consultancy companies are too often in the bullshitting business or base their success on boarder line market abuse positions called networking.
To be really brutally honest is the clean look of a new Apple Computer laptop much more important to find creative, willing to work and eager to succeed workers than a capable IT, information technology, system that operates in the background and that's where the money goes.
It sounds great to drop having a Cocktail with the Ivory League buddies that McKinsey is in the house going through the departments, but no one receives a rising eye brow for telling about the integration of an open source deriving AI backbone that connects calendar notes with the document management system that was integrated into Open Office taking off the need to save documents in a file dump, but sorts them and even indexes them with a dashboard for the managers about the meeting top ten topics of the floor....
Right?
The marketing industry as a side effect made it easy to declare open source software as freeware and let companies spend money on exchanging hardware slowed down by the OS systems they use and even a Supreme Court decision would have little to no impact as Microsoft proved in an Anti-Monoply trial having 98% desktop computer installations. FBI won't come around for that style of Piracy ever having their drinks right at the next table knowing what they do on the loo, secretly, especially if someone from MIT supports the lack of English ability redefining Free and thereby Freedom.
The struggle of open source developers to make a living, watching creative companies using several thousand Dollar hardware closer to type writers than to the information technology they are is as much part of what I call in this blog The Dark Modernity as Black Hawk Down being actually no Hollywood action movie, but a hyper realistic infotainment documentary or little me facing BKA officers telling me I had poverty oath and asking me what I had done that one year I was off surveillance as teenager.
I have despite 137363 views on this blog not received one Dollar support.
That's life. Hard, brutal and sad, but no one way road. We are all sad and lying about it makes it worse. Only those on drugs or medication tell themselves they are happy, yet being incapable of really feeling anything due to their stack compared to the other sober humans as much as not paying for ideas or concepts or even entire software by lousy and even criminal excuses. As Charley Chaplin said, as long men die greed will pass, and that's no happy message, just the truth and nothing but the truth.
If you believe that without a judge there is no sentence, you should not find a human society in which you can make it or are we all at sleep, drugged and gone stupid ignorant?
Nobless Obligé. Duty First, is the GI translation.
