Anyone interested into putting up some competition to the MIT?
You don't need one brick of what MIT and copying that makes no sense anyway in order to compete with them. They are the perfect incubator for the large industrial computer world creating in many respects their scientific and management base.
The competition is not in recreating that, it is in solving data processing problems.
The MIT does that using a classic University architecture, but there are other ways to create a productive and efficient environment. It's location right next to Boston is a million Dollar estate today. It is perfect for physical meetings.
Computer don't need that. The Open Source Community is based online only. They work using old school archaic systems from the days the Internet was founded like IRC.
What it would need would be an extended form of edX, but run by other players than those already forming MIT and other Ivory League Colleges. Not that they are not needed, but to increase competition.

Places like MIT miss out on educating a lot of young humans by what also makes them great. Living in New England is expensive and the culture they created needs individual that fit in. Not everyone capable can afford that or is willing to fit in.
E Pluribus Unum means that not to fit is the very base idea of the U.S.A.m if willingness to accept the other is given.
I am telling you, let West Point & The Public Schools, they draw so many of their finest from give it a shot. All it needs is an order and a fund.
