I am reading BIG BOOK of CYBERPUNK. It is a great read. I am old and grew up in a world surrounded by arrogance based on ignorance.
I got old here for a reason and one is that I can control my drive of excitement having read a to me new idea. I also have no friends to share that with and further explore.
Youngsters do not have that, especially if they do not grow up like me but in a world in which the Drugged is the exception, not the norm sharing with which symptoms which medication is described by which doctor.
I have not grepped that book for some time. Now I did. My marker was in the Self chapter and I read it again.
The last phrase is: "That is a reflection of cyberpunk as a whole: despite our best (or worst) efforts to suppress it, we are inevitably, irreversibly, irrationally human"
In a learning group meeting in an IRC channel we might have agreed to read that chapter alone. Then we would know after one of us put that phrase into the channel, by that learning 10 finger typing over time, what the subject is.
Otherwise, or to be more precise: "That [writing about the self, even a fictional, is necessarily personal] is a reflection of cyberpunk as a whole: despite our best (or worst) efforts to suppress it, we are inevitably, irreversibly, irrationally human"
In Plato's schools system that was enforced by the establishment of Nations over Europe, the form of order the Germans with Hitler have had decided for us before attacking us once again, that part in [...] is not for debate, it is set as truth and to be repeated under questioning. Having a different, especially the ego of the teacher being the authority challenging, opinion is an act of rebellion as such. It never was that easy to rebel as in our Dark Modernity. Just stay away from the drugs and turn your natural play and move drive into coordinated physical activity as important and be discussing using text systems that force everyone to think before phrasing.
To control that excitement and force yourself to finish the chapter instead of jumping up after those certain phrases you need to make notes. If you force yourself to type, you learn both emotional control and typing, beside you are having it digital, most easy to share and by open source LLMs even ways to further process those in a potential future.
From those notes a text might arise. That text can be put in several forms from essays to thesis. Using IRC in a group that does not need a physical class room than, the input of the others is available in digital written form. You can share your own notes especially if you have agreed on a form such as a specific header in the text file showing Author, Date, Subject, Keywords from a set of defined Keywords.
Learning off the school system means there is no time limit defined by the amount of lessons per school year Vs the curriculum. Using IRC, sub channels can be created and sub-groups of the overall group can discuss, explore and share more in depth than other groups specific sub topics of the actual topic. You may loos your self in thought and a sujet and dive as deep as you want ... or need to, to be satisfied.
Not everyone is a fighter, but everyone has a drive to defend as much as a brain thirsty to think of which dreaming is the most suppressed under tyranny no matter soft of hardcore. Only the heart and brain never truly rest.
Train body and mind and follow your heart. So do I.
