 That is expensive. This heroic Ukrainian unit defeating Russian forces manages in reality to have an Abrahams tank destroyed. That is an expensive item ... in the U.S. military and wars like in the Iraq War.

The problem is the tactics and strategy. Even so knowing that the Russian side has efficient anti-tank systems in place they do not provide cover for the tank. They are using Sturmtruppen tactics the Tank is not made for. They advance fast into the rim of a village, the Tank is further advancing most likely having a high on Amphetamine Crew loosing control to be taken apart by counter fire while the infantry strides far away around, considering the battle ground, through hardly occupied houses.

The supply line is still a long stretched road under Russian siege.

There is a good chance that the propaganda video does not show how Russians kill the entire unit running out of ammo or retreating again over the long straight road.

Small unit tactics are advanced tactics. The unit must use the available weapon systems to its fullest potential. The tank is capable of long distance shots, the infantry can manouver in difficult terrain and use cover to stay hidden.

The unit does the very opposite of that. The Tank is destroyed in close distance fire and the Infantry clearly visible by drone footage.

Appropriately peaceful and under fair treatment is the majority of low level arrests. This is also a result out of the 90ies underground wars.

Having a smuggler navy made by fast boats is simple to end and the technology can be used against coast guard Navies as Iran uses, Somali and all other coast line Pirate Gangs. What is missing is small Submarines using optical systems in combination with satellite imagery. Currently AWACS and other surveillance airplanes overwatch a rather large area and are very visible and hearable. Satellites have trouble looking through clouds and no branch of the military has small WW2 size reconnaissance submarines anymore or ever developed that would use a set of retractable optical systems hard to spot from distance to patroule submerged or await activity from a stop and hide position. 

The rest is one-to-one WW2 submarine tactics. Located targets are shared and approached or transmitted to backyard waiting Air Carriers or fast coats guard boats.

The Submarines would need to be fast, comparable to coast guard boats, have long range surveillance drones launchable from deck and possibly a battery of small ground to ground missiles adding to standard Guttling guns also used on Humvees. 

 

Against Iran those would be the first response line against Iranian boat drones and coast guard boats attacking a U.S. Fleet.

Against Pirates hiding in long coast stretches under jungle cover, they would be the recon force to pin down the exact strong hold location.

 

It would be the asymmetric warfare weapon system of the Navy and in peacetime able to protect Water Ways like the Panama Channel or U.S. harbours adding to Coast Guard and ICE.

The Future of the IRA

 Do we all remember how we were told that millions of climate change refugees will arrive in Europe?

We could have been told the truth, we could have been told what could have been known back than. Europe will suffer even worse.

One about Big Red One

 Big Red One is hardly understood by their enemies, especially the domestic one:

 The 1st Infantry Division (1ID) is a combined arms division of the United States Army, and is the oldest continuously serving division in the Regular Army.[5] It has seen continuous service since its organization in 1917 during World War I.[6] It was officially nicknamed "The Big Red One" (abbreviated "BRO"[2]) after its shoulder patch[6] and is also nicknamed "The Fighting First".[6] The division has also received troop monikers of "The Big Dead One" and "The Bloody First" as puns on the respective officially sanctioned nicknames. It is currently based at Fort Riley, Kansas.

The 1st Infantry Division was first deployed to fight in France in World War I, fought extensively in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany during World War II, and participated extensively during United States' campaigns in the Vietnam War. The 1st Infantry was stationed in what became West Germany from 1945 to 1955, and its units rotated to West Germany throughout the remainder of the Cold War. It subsequently deployed to fight in the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan. 37 members of the "Big Red One" have been awarded the Medal of Honor, making the 1st Infantry one of the U.S. Army's most honored divisions [1].
World War I

A few weeks after the American entry into World War I, the First Expeditionary Division, later designated as the 1st Infantry Division, was constituted on 24 May 1917, in the Regular Army, and was organized on 8 June 1917, at Fort Jay, on Governors Island in New York harbor under the command of Brigadier General William L. Sibert.

Fort Jay is situated on Governors Island (which was known as Nutten Island from 1664 to 1784, based on Dutch Noten Eylandt for "Nut Island"). Specifically, the fort is located on the site of earthworks originally built to defend New York City during the American Revolution. General Israel Putnam constructed the first earthen fortification on this site starting in April 1776, and armed it with eight cannons for the defense of New York Harbor.

Big Red One comes from the coast line, from Marines, from protecting trade harbours and thereby civilians. Every Pirate Captain knows to attack a Fort with a ship is a bad idea facing stone from wood walls. Pirate Towns had civilians that would face torture if captured. This made Pirates think a lot about protection and defense, about hiding and seeking.

Since ever Big Red One had its own tests, exercises and training routines. They swim like Marine Divers, fly like Air Force Pilots and ride like the Cavalry, but no one matches their Reconnaissance responsible for collecting the most important to protect: Information, Knowledge and Understanding.
