This is the infantry of the UAE military and it does make no sense. The UAE derives from Nomads that turned rich by stinky stuff from way deep in the ground in a place nobody build houses or started digging for about ever. Than, the Dark Modern Times came over them and all wanted their Oil.
This would make sence....
...in the very opposite to a Western made main battle tank that has just, as the Centurion in front of a hundred soldiers of the Roman Empire, never made it for any respectable survival time in the desert. It is too hot, they are too heavy, too loud and if it is hard to overlook them in a European forest....DUDE
The very problem of the UAE is that they have to accept all and everything from their clients outgunning them and do so.
The West cannot attack without getting into trouble with all of Arabia, Russia and China. They are just too good for their own good in bluffing. As soon as it is cards down The West usually looses on every battleground from economics to all warfare, with the exception of public media statements in quantity not trustability.
For almost one thousand years Nomadic desert warfare was ruled by a hide and seek game ending in countering fast hit and run attacks by either at the attack or a retaliation run taking them out for ever. That is where the Sharia belongs to and only belongs to.
No Western tactics make any sence in The Desert Warefare. The Iraq War was fought in towns and on all open field tank battles hit and run strategies using night cover were applied against an Iraqi force on drugs all trained by northern hemisphere cold war doctrine books made for wood and agricultural flat land.
Instead of tanks and light infantry the UAE needs hovercraft tanks that do not exist, crab tanks that can digg into the sand hiding using modern robotics to move at night in cover slowley and steadily, midium range ballisitc rocket systems guided by clear night sky satellite pictures that are based on hovercrafts or light chain trucks and an infantry that is using fast attack vehicles, can create crab like hideouts within a few hours securing from the summer desert heat peacks and is very capable of modern coordinated high tech house to house combat in good body armour, but not one single CIA or Kreml or even Peking advicer.
The FBI won the war in the Nevada desert, but against Hippis, the Russians never made it into any desert and Peking has no military in the Gobi desert at all, because nobody would attack from there.
